Interview with Mary A. Guillermo

01

What made you decide to make a change in your life that related to health and fitness?

A lot of it began with my brother introducing me to supplements around Christmas time in 2008. He told me that if I were really serious about changing the way I look for the better then I should stop complaining about do it.

I tried working out but didn’t get too serious until I joined up with Steve and his Team Poynter in April 2009. He helped push my motivation and brought me to a whole different level that I never dreamed I could reach.

02

What were the reasonings behind joining Fitnesspoynters.com?

I joined because I felt that there was something different about Steve’s story. I always hear about different success stories from other websites but felt skeptical because they always fed people some lie about never having to exercise and losing 10 lbs a week.

I knew that Steve was a legit, real down to Earth type of guy with no B.S. attached to his workouts.

03

What were some of the first changes you began to see in your transformation?

When I got my workout (Extreme Fat Destruction Plan) from Steve, the first thing I noticed within a few days of the plan was my energy level skyrocketing. I would wake up every day feeling refreshed and ready to hit the gym hard.

Usually I would be lazy and tired after pushing myself at the gym, but I think Steve’s workout plan in conjunction with his personalized meal plans help fuel the body for the exercises he gives you.

04

How long did it take for you to start noticing results?

It really didn’t take long, within a week I saw results in strength and size. I never used to be able to do a pull up on those bars, but after a week of training I could easily do 3 pull ups.

Now I can do 12. My size 8 jeans just slip on and off too, I’m a size 3 now and even the 3’s are a bit loose!

05

What was the most challenging part of the Transformation?

I’d say the hardest part would be the meal plan. You’re so used to eating whatever you want to eat and whatever time, but Steve sets you up to eat at 2-3 hour intervals and only a selection of foods are allowed to be eaten.

It takes some getting used to, but in the end you get amazing results in such a short time when you cut all the junk from your plate.

06

How long did it take you to reach your current weight after starting the program from fitnesspoynters.com?

It took me 5 months to get to the weight I’m at. I’ve lost about 26 lbs and dropped my body fat percentage by 8.5 points. I never thought I could weigh less than 125 lbs in my life, but here I am at 114 lbs and still going, ridding fat and gaining muscle.

07

How are you maintaining your fit status after completing the program?

Even though I am done with the EFD Plan, I’m still part of Team Poynter and continue to maintain my fit physique by trying different programs I never thought I could accomplish.

Right now I am doing a 60-Day program called INSANITY, which calls for some incredible stamina and strength. If I had not had Steve’s training and guidance, I would definitely not be able to do INSANITY. After INSANITY, I’m not sure what I’ll do next, but I’ll always rep Steve and Team Poynter for getting me started.

08

How do the changes you have made affect your life today?

Before the workouts and meal plans, I was a complete shut-in type of person. I never went out with friends if I didn’t have to and I just sat online all day playing computer games. Nowadays I’m outside at the beach or at a club.

I’m a lot more out-going and happier with my life today than I was back then. It’s an amazing change that I am proud of.

09

How would you rate your overall experience with Fitnesspoynters.com?

Before : 10/10 During : 10/10 and After Completion: 10/10

Weight Loss Tips

Tip 1: For Diet – I try not to think of it as a diet, because the word seems to make people cringe and complain. Instead, I call it a meal plan and think of all the amazing combinations I could make with what’s available to me. It’s better to think of it positively instead of constantly missing what you cannot eat anymore.

Tip 2: For Working Out – As soon as I start to feel my body lose stamina, I seriously just think of it as “one last hit”. In my mind I know I can keep pushing, even if my body wants to stop I just yell at myself to go, and when you can push pass the pain and focus your mind to the goal you will see results faster than you would if you listened to your body and stopped pushing.

Tip 3: Music – I have a wide variety when it comes to workout music. Personally I like listening to some Rock or Hardcore Rap/HipHop. Some bands I recommend are Korn, System of a Down, and Drowning Pool. Songs that have an angry rhythm or upbeat tempo really gets me pumped.

Tip 4: Losing Motivation – I totally get it when people feel like there’s just no reason to go out at hit the gym hard. What I do when I start losing motivation, I look through some fitness magazines or check out some of the bodybuilding.com profiles. People who push hard 24/7 are inspiring and motivational to me. Even when you feel like you can’t get the energy up to lift, you should just try and do 2 or 3 reps, you’ll feel better when you do!

Tip 5: Balancing Work/Life/Fitness/School – Being 19 and a college student is tough. I have to balance a lot of things in my life. People say they can’t fit workouts into their schedule because of work or school. I’m not going to put people down but, I find time to do all these things and still workout. I start my day at 5:30am and end it at 11:00pm. If I can find time to work out from 5am til 7am, go to school between the hours of 8am and 3pm, then go to work from 5pm to 11pm, I’m sure you can all do about the same thing.
